Photo of Reverend SharonA short biography:

Reverend Sharon has been a resident of Maryland her entire life. She attended Trinity Episcopal Church Long Green in Baltimore County until she was a young adult. After she was married, she attended St. Mark’s on the Hill in Pikesville and then moved to the Cathedral where she worshiped until going into discernment.

Prior to becoming a priest in the Episcopalian church, she had a fullfilling career as a registered nurse (R.N.) in Baltimore City. Her experience was with people who encountered trauma and complications to their lives on a large scale with such disease processes as AIDS and cystic fibrosis. When she took her class in pastoral care at Johns Hopkins, the supervisor stated that she had been a nurse who excelled in pastoral care. Reverend Sharon's joy came when patients adapted skills that allowed their lives to stabilize or improve.

Reverend Sharon's church life was fulfilled with lay ministries that only increased her thirst to serve God. A Cathedral deacon encouraged her to go into discernment and ultimately to the priesthood. Formation occurred at Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS), began in 2010 and concluded in May 2013, where she met wonderful professors who shared their skills from the pulpit and academia. It was an amazing experience that has left her filled with a desire to be a priest in the parish--now and in the future.

In September of 2013, the Grace Church Search Committee completed their Search Process and recommended Reverend Sharon Watts as the new Rector of Grace Episcopal Church to the Vestry. The Vestry accepted this recommendation and in October of 2013, Reverend Sharon was ordained into the priesthood by Bishop Eugene Sutton at Grace Episcopal Church in New Market.
